All cities in Israel have cinemas, auditoriums, theaters, museums, coffee shops and restaurants. In Israel the weekend is on Friday and Saturday. Nightlife does not really get going until about 10 to 11 pm. Tel Aviv is the country main nightlife center. There are clubs where traditional folk songs are played and sing-alongs are encouraged. Others feature hard rock and pop music or Rastafarian music combining Jamaican, African and Hebrew. The night scene is not only limited to Tel Aviv, whose motto is the "city that never sleeps." In fact, although Jerusalem is traditionally considered a more subdued city, its nightlife has grown dramatically in recent years.
MUSEUMS, ART GALLERIES AND ARTISTS’ COLONIES Both modern and classical works are on display at Israel’s numerous museums and art galleries. The major museums are: · Jerusalem: The Israel Museum, (including the Shrine of the Book, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls), the Bible Lands Museum.· Tel Aviv: the Tel Aviv Museum (2 pavilions), the Museum of the Jewish Diaspora (Beth Hatefutsot), the Eretz Israel Museum.Artists’ colonies have developed in Em Hod village (near Haifa), Safed (Zefat) and Jaffa (Yafo), with picturesque studios open to the public. In Jerusalem, there is a small artists’ colony in the Yemin Moshe Quarter, while Hutzot Hayotzer and the Jerusalem House of Quality feature studios and a wide variety of art galleries and crafts shops.
RADIO AND TELEVISION Radio programs are broadcast daily in Hebrew, English, Arabic, French, Yiddish, Russian and other languages. There are three daily news programs in English and French.
