international airlines operate scheduled flights to Israel’s Ben-Gurion International Airport Tel. 03-9710000 at Lod (near Tel Aviv).

Certain flights from European countries also land at Ovda Tel. 07-6375880 or Eilat Tel. 07-6363838 or 07-6363830, international airports in southern Israel. Pilots interested in flying their own planes to Israel should provide the Israel Airports Authority with all mandatory information at least 48 hours in advance of the ETA - via cable, AFTN message, telex or fax - and await clearance before commencing the flight. TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT

A shuttle bus, No. 222 operates between Ben Gurion Airport and Tel Aviv, stopping at the El Al Air Terminal on Arlozorov Street and the Palace Hotel on Hayarkon Street. The service operates from 4 am till midnight. On Fridays and holiday eves,

the service operates until 8 pm, and on Saturdays from noon until midnight. For further information call 03-9711711. Buses operated by the Egged Bus Company leave Ben Gurion Airport every 15 minutes for Tel Aviv (5 am – 10 pm), every 30 minutes for Jerusalem (6.30 am - 8.30 pm). Nesher Taxis operates a sherut (shared) taxi service between Jerusalem and Ben Gurion Airport, charging a fixed rate per passenger. For an extra charge, the taxi will pick up passengers and their baggage from anywhere in Jerusalem. TRAVELING TO ISRAEL BY SEA

Several shipping lines offer regular sailings from Europe to the port of Haifa. Many Mediterranean cruises also include Israel in their itineraries. Pleasure craft may enter Israel via the ports of Haifa, Ashdod or Eilat, or via the Tel Aviv Marina. Following border and customs clearance, they may proceed to any of Israel’s five special yacht marinas.
